Prof. Steve Wooding Joins Faculty

October 8, 2020

The Department of Anthropology and Heritage Studies is happy to announce that Dr. Stephen Wooding has joined the department and will be teaching for us starting this Spring. Dr. Wooding is a scholar of anthropological genetics, who received his PhD in Anthropology from the University of Utah and worked at UC Merced for several years as a member of the faculty in Public Health before transferring back to Anthropology. His research is focused on the evolutionary genetics of taste and the genetics of plant domestication. This second project is specifically focused on the domestication of cassava in the Amazon Basin. Dr. Wooding will teach ANTH 151 (Human Adaptability) for us this Spring and enter his regular rotation with courses from the biological anthropology curriculum and hopefully a new course on Anthropological Genetics.
