Research supported by the Dickson Award will entail a comprehensive literature review and re-analysis of select archaeological collections from the central and southern Sierra Nevada to synthesize data and provide a foundation for the more thoughtful, multi-scalar analysis needed to understand Native life over millennia in the region. This analysis will facilitate interpretation of long- and short-term culture change, inter-cultural interaction, and Native use and understanding of the Sierra as part of group history and heritage.
