Students should consult with a SSHA academic advisor before enrolling in any field school to ensure that the course will satisfy a requirement for the Anthropology major or minor at UC Merced. The field methods requirement can also be satisfied by courses offered at UC Merced during the regular school year.
NOTE: Valley fever (coccidioidomycosis) -- a serious disease affecting the respiratory system -- is endemic to much of California's Central Valley and areas of the U.S. Southwest. If you are considering attending an archaeological field school at a site in one of these areas, please discuss the health risks with the field school director.
